Lourdes Isla-Marrero is the former Assistant

Principal of Mater East Elementary, which was

recognized by the United States Department of

Education as a National Blue Ribbon school of

excellence. The highest award a school can

receive for academic achievement.  

Ms. Isla-Marrero went on to become the founding

Principal of Mater Gardens K-8 one of the most

highly successful charter schools in Florida.  

Once again, awarded a National Blue Ribbon in

2014 for her excellence in leading students to

outstanding academic achievement. With

twenty plus year experience in education,

she is also the Dean of the Doral College School

of Elementary Education. Training future

educators to become outstanding classroom

teachers.  

 

Ms. Isla-Marrero is paired with

Mr. Douglas Rodriguez, Mater Biscayne campus

President. Mr. Rodriguez is also a highly

accomplished school Principal having won three

National Blue Ribbons as Principal of Doral

Academy Charter School one of the

top-performing charters in the country.  

He has also served as a Principal in Miami-Dade

County at three different schools and won Miami Dade County and Florida Principal of the Year in 2008. Mr. Rodriguez has also served as President of Doral College which offers dual enrollment college classes to over 10,000 students annually throughout the State of Florida. These two dynamic leaders are collaborating to bring a rigorous STEM education program to children in grades Pk3-5 at Mater Biscayne Academy. Their experience and leadership will create an environment of high expectations, opportunities for advanced education and character and value-based education.
